Today’s tour takes us to the heart of the Rhondda Valley. We start the day by travelling to TREFOREST, known today for the University of Glamorgan and now predominantly a student village, but once a bustling industrial area. Our first stop is to "The Grogg Shop". Established in 1965 The World of Groggs is famous worldwide for its unique caricatures of the famous - from sport to entertainment, film to music and a glance at our Welsh heritage.

From Treforest we drive uphill to Pontypridd Common, an open space which affords magnificent views across the town and valley. On the common there is a large boulder known as the 'Rockin Stone'. This stands in the middle of a circle of smaller stones which were constructed by Dr William Price, (Dr. Price pioneered cremation in Great Britain) and performed ceremonies of druid rites along with other believers. We drop down then to the town of Pontypridd, home of the Welsh National Anthem, and famous for its old bridge. After a visit to the Pontypridd Historical Centre situated adjacent to the famous "Old Bridge", you have free time to wander the market town and experience for yourselves the open air market along with the indoor market and the narrow main street where independent traders stand alongside the many of the well known names of city high streets.

Suitably refreshed we leave Pontypridd and travel to the Rhondda Heritage Park where we learn about life in the valleys of days passed. Experience the "Black Gold Tour". This is a fully guided tour which takes you to the pit head buildings of an old coalmine, and even a journey underground. See for yourself the price of coal in Wales, physically, mentally & sociably.

On our drive back to Cardiff we pass through the ancient village of Llantrisant famous as the home to Dr William Price who paved the way for the acceptance of cremation in this country. A statue of Dr.Price was unveiled in 1982, and stands in the Bullring in the centre of Llantrisant.
